Never tired of chasing adventure

Some things never get old. Like watching fireworks at New Years or eating ice cream on a hot summers day. For you it might be re-discovering an old favourite t-shirt, riding a bike with the wind in your hair (‘look no hands!’) or getting the keys to your first car. Whatever puts a smile on your face, I’m sure you’ll agree that these things are timeless, forever destined to sit proudly on the altar of our minds like a primary school trophy.

Luckily I learnt early on that adventure is one of life’s little gems. It doesn’t go out of fashion, you can get it pretty much anywhere and it seems to be in abundant supply. I got hooked on it as a child and have been a junkie ever since. Mind you, it’s nearly driven me broke on a few occasions, tested my relationships, put me in hospital and got me horribly lost more than once…and I do this for fun?!

As far as chasing adventure goes, 2011 was a rocket. Live volcanoes, ancient ruins, trekking, salt deserts, blazing sunsets, natural wonders, art, history, wildlife, volunteering, conservation – you name it. From Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Spain, England to South Africa, the GLG and I were spoilt for choice. Here’s a new selection of photos I took along the way. It’s a mixed bag, but in chronological order.

I wonder what 2012 will bring…

the GLG and I were spoilt for choice? Who is GLG?

    • Hehe! I introduced this at the beginning of my blog…my German Love God. And yes, he has since received plenty of flak from his work mates (although I think he secretly likes it 🙂

Absolutely stunning photographs. So excited I stumbled upon your blog. I hope to travel as much as you have some day, as most of my traveling is done in the mind. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

    • Thanks for visiting! I got the travel bug from a very young age (don’t think my parents were quite aware of the impact that would have!) I’ve been lucky but I pretty much put every penny I make into my travels and adventures…funny thing is, my list keeps getting bigger – the more I see, the more I realise there is to see! Traveling in the mind is also good – means the sky’s the limit! Cheers, Z

wow great stuff, just found this blog. hopefully you have some shots of Greece 🙂

    • Thanks! Hmm…I do have some shots of Greece (albeit from over 10 years ago!), but that would be delving into the archives and my extensive collection of ‘real film’ – which has yet to be scanned into digital format. It’s on my to do list! Either that or visit it again, which I’d do in a heart beat if it wasn’t going through such incredible strife at the moment with the economic crisis. Ahhh…next time 🙂

amazing photographs I envy all your travels

  14. Ahhh these pictures are breathtaking!! Just beautiful. I’m glad i stumbled across your blog 🙂 Are they all edited?

    • Hi there! Thanks for checking it out 🙂 Most of the South American shots are as is (some have been slightly edited in iphoto). I had Lightroom for the Africa and Aussie shots, so played around with some of the shots for max impact. Still learning about editing in ‘post’ though, so nothing too fancy.
